Movement and nature

Spinga is located in the largest alpine hut region in South Tyrol. Around 30 huts are spread across the Gitschberg-Jochtal skiing and hiking region. Popular excursions in summer lead to the Fane-Alm pasture near Valles, to the Pfunderer Valley, to the viewing platform on the Gitschberg, to the Stoanamandl mountain and, of course, to the Dolomites! Nearby, the Bunker recreation area in Spinga offers play opportunities and fun for the little guests.

Culture and sightseeing

The most famous historical event was probably the Battle of Spinga in 1797, in which “freedom fighter” Katharina Lanz, armed only with a pitchfork, defended the village from Napoleonic troops. For more hands-on history visit the bunker, the Holy Sepulchre Chapel built in 1685, a replica of the chapel of the same name in Jerusalem, the “Mühlbacher Klause” or the nearby Neustift Monastery (Abbazia di Novacella).
